Nothing Can Be Idiot-Proof... Especially With More Than 800 Million Users!!

I actually could not be more sick and tired of these stupid stories where people have given away too much information over a social networking site and the site itself gets the blame! When someone completely daft gives their information which they shouldn't on the internet then its as if the site itself is the most unsafe place for you to sign up to. I mean, are you actually serious? There is absolutely no risk on these sites unless you're completely idiotic about it! It is always one stupid person that ruins it for everyone else. Facebook, for example, has had much stigma around it, especially by older generations as they only ever hear the bad stuff and don't fully understand the technicalities of all this 'internet jargon'. Now, Facebook has settings so that if you don't want ANYONE to see ANY of your profile, they can't! It is quite a wonderful thing that YOU make it as private as YOU LIKE! Now, if someone is ****ing stupid enough to not bother upping their privacy settings, then I think they deserve whatever is coming to them as a result because the beauty of these sites is that its really not very complicated, like most of the internet, it really is just the click of a button and then you're home clear, safe and sound.
So for all the people out there who only ever hear the bad things about Facebook and how easily people can get your information, you need to get YOUR information straight because it is only the idiots who put that information on the internet in the first place that ever suffer as a result.
Simple as, DON'T put up any very personal info and keep a close eye on your privacy settings!! Just be a bit savvy about it.. its really not that complicated.

Movember & Online PR.

Online PR, what a fantastic module to be doing in our 1st semester of Public Relations. Colin Cooney, everyone's favourite lecturer from what I gather, who is today styling quite a fantastic Hulk-Hogan-esque, horseshoe moustache. Shout out, Colin!
Online PR has been one of the most enjoyable modules in this 1st semester for me. I would consider myself quite a tech-savvy person and so  this module has been quite suited to me, along with graphic design too.
Amongst other things, we've all started blogs, twitters and google+ accounts. I've found blog writing enjoyable for the most part, however I can't imagine google+ playing a big part in my life at any point in the near future. I'll stick with facebook, thanks!
Probably the most enjoyable thing about this module, in my opinion, is having learnt how to create webpages! The HTML coding can be quite daunting at first, and even in my exam, I know I didn't perfect it, but I just thought it was cool to be able to create a webpage, as basic as they may have been!
Devs we don't have Colin again until 4th year of college, we'll all miss him dearly! ANOTHER SHOUT OUT TO COLIN! lol.

G'wan the Michael!

Absolutely chuffed to have Mr. Michael D.Higgins represent our country.
At the beginning of the whole re-election process I was hoping for another female president, not because I'm a mad crazy feminist or anything, but simply because there are only 19 female world leaders now and I always thought it made Ireland stand out having a female president and sure, good aul Mary represented us very well, she'll be sorely missed! But being realistic, our female candidates this year were just not up to scratch.
Mary Davis - the special K president with the most photo-shopped posters I have ever seen made her almost unrecognizable on television because the posters looked absolutely nothing like the woman herself. She finished with a respectable (lol) 2.7%.
And of course, our other option, the country's beloved Dana, who, let's be honest, was never really in the running. She's a little button with a lot of pride in this country, but the scandals surrounding her broke her down and I just don't think she could handle the pressure of a Presidency. Although, apparently our voting community thought she'd be better at representing our country than Davis, as she finished with 2.9%.
However, let the reign of Michael D. begin! The cutest candidate and definitely the best for the job, he stood out amongst his competitors for me and evidently a lot of other people, having got 701,101 first preference votes & 56.8% of the final percentage! He looks like a wee gremlin or a wee leprechaun - something that I'm sure some of our, let's say, naive neighbours overseas - americans will appreciate.
So in that respect, pop him into a little green suit, give him a pot of gold and sit him at the bottom of a rainbow and he really is the best representation for our country!

Rain, rain - Go Away!

This is rain is quite phenomenal - I had no idea that one day's rain could cause THIS much flooding in Ireland.
My front and back garden are completely flooded, so I am technically housebound, but its nothing a high spirit and a pair of wellies can't wade through!
As for Dundrum Shopping Centre it looks like some repairs will be well in order, as you can see from the photos, but even more so in my Video Link. ..

My 1st EVER Blog! :)
